9 Reasons Why I Encourage Boudoir at Least Once in Your Lifetime

i’ve had a number of boudoir inquires from many people—however, many of those times there is no follow up and I am left to wonder if it’s something I did or said wrong that scared them away. but as I looked through the initial contact email or dm, I realized that it wasn’t something I did wrong, it was that the person inquiring was already either spooked of the idea of boudoir, or that they weren’t certain why they should do one in the first place.

of course, with that in mind, it’s fairly easy to feel discouraged and/or underwhelmed to move forward with a session that really is all about the JUMP! so, I am going to give you 9 reasons why I encourage you to have a boudoir session at least once in your lifetime!

1. because you want toYou are reading this for a reason. you already want to do a boudoir session and just didn’t know if it is right for you. maybe you’ve already inquired with a photographer but took a break because you’re feeling indecisive and you’re searching for a reason to make the final move—or, perhaps you’re in need of more reasons? keep reading on and I guarantee you will find it here.
   
2. because it boosts confidence and promotes positive self-imageface it, we have all lacked confidence in ourselves at least once in our lives. maybe we don’t have the perfectly straight or curly hair we would like, maybe our skin isn’t flawless, or our teeth aren’t perfectly aligned. we can always find at least one thing that we dislike about ourselves. but have you wondered what it would take to boost that self image and viewed to your insecurities with the grace and love you deserve? boudoir is a magnificent way to doll up, buy that new lingerie and allow your photographer to work their magic on you. the feeling of empowerment you will leave your session with is unmatched. well, until you get your photos back and realize what a sexy little babe you truly are.
3. because your future self will thank you for itin the words of Moira schitt— “Take a thousand, naked pictures of yourself now. You may currently think, “Oh, I’m too spooky.” Or, “Nobody wants to see these tiny boobies.” But, believe me, one day you will look at those photos with much kinder eyes and say, “Dear God, I was a beautiful thing!”so, with that being said, we are not getting any younger. you might be 20, 26, or 32 and feel like time isn’t going to catch up with you yet. you’re young and you are full of life. but what happens when you are 55 and miss the firm, tightness, and smoothness of your skin? not that you can’t have a kick as boudoir session at that age. but nine out of ten times, you’re not really jumping at the idea of stripping naked in front of the camera at 55. so do it now. now is the time and your future self will thank you for it.
   
4. because it makes for a great gift for your partnerwhether you are engaged or getting married—hell, if you just feel like giving them an anniversary gift, a boudoir photoshoot of yourself is the most intimate and sexy gift you can give your partner. you can put together a sweet little album and it makes for the perfect gift on any occasion
   
5. because it makes for a great gift for youas beautiful a gift it can make for your partner, it will make for an even better gift for you! imaging allowing yourself to love yourself enough then step in front of a camera to be vulnerable for yourself. ah! it gives me the chills thinking of the sweet emphasis in self-love that comes with the gift of boudoir. you don’t need to have a partner to do a boudoir session. as a matter of fact, it was when I was single that I look back and think—”why didn’t I just go for it”. what a shame. so do it for you and do it for you now!
   
6. because you’re pregnantboudoir isn’t a niched category. within it are many sub types and one is ‘maternity boudoir’. oh yes! you know very well that baby bump deserves some love and why is it that you should buy a dress and go outside or to a studio and take pictures in it that don’t necessarily reveal the growing belly you proudly wear for 9 whole months! ever seen or heard of a milk bath? perfect way to show off your beautiful bump while elegantly capturing your changing body. and if you need one more reason to do a maternity boudoir shoot, you mustn’t forget, your body as you see it is temporary. do the session!
   
7. because your body has changedwe all know that bodies change constantly. you may have been thin and gained the curves you’re now in love with, or you finally lost the weight that you’d been struggling with for months—or even years. either way, you’re feeling confident, you’re motived, you’re empowered and you’re looking for a way to honor this huge milestone in your life. well, there simply isn’t anything better than taking your selfie game up a notch and booking a boudoir session.
   
8. because you need to see yourself the way I see youmaybe you’re not here for me per say, but in the slight chance you are (and I do travel, so fly me anywhere), then I encourage you to book a session with me because you need to see yourself the way I see you. in other words, “ you need to view yourself from my lens”. you see, I have a very easy coming attitude when it comes to boudoir, particularly your photo session. I have been asked what my “rules” are. my rule is there are no rules. you dictate your photoshoot and I simply follow. don’t want to be nude? okay; you’re unsure about being nude? let me put you at ease with some words of affirmation; don’t know about that sexy pose? how about we try something different?; don’t know what to wear? that’s what you pay me for.
   whatever your wish, I grant—because there isn’t a more beautiful person than you. you are uniquely you and in front of my camera, you’re the queen—or king, or both! you will feel no judgment from me, only encouragement.
   
   there is a GIGANTIC reason why this is my first ever blog post. boudoir is my baby. I have nurtured it from a tiny seed to what it is now. I will forever continue to grow in this field because helping you love yourself is a rush that is unmatched by any other.
   
9. because why the hell notif you have made it this far and still can’t find any good reason to take the plunge, then this is your only reason—because why the hell not?? you have no good reason to place this ever longing desire in the back burner. you have zero excuse for not wanting to pamper and lavish yourself in the greatness of self-love. so why the hell not.
